The Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute is committed to a policy of equal opportunity. Admission is open to all qualified applicants who show a strong desire to learn and spread the Ayurveda Healing Dharma to relieve living beings from suffering. Equal educational opportunities will be provided to all persons, regardless of race, religion, gender, national origin, marital status, sexual preference, age, or physical handicap.
The Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute seeks applicants who wish to study Traditional Ayurvedic Medicine (TAM) within its original spiritual context of Asian philosophy and religion (Buddhism, Yoga and the Vedas). A personal commitment to the study and practice of the ancient medical arts, combined with a sound academic background, are qualities common to the Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute students.
The Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute programs support the professional / spiritual development of working adults by offering the option of either full-time or part-time studies in three formats:
1. In-Person Classroom-based Instructor-Led Learning $150 per trimester unit Trimester Unit ($10.00 per hour)
2. Distance Learning (Correspondence Course) $10 per unit Trimester Unit (66 cents per hour)
The Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute accepts applicants who submit completed application packets. Candidates for admission are considered in the order in which their applications are completed. Applications are dated upon receipt. As soon as our classes for that semester are filled, applicants who submit completed application packages are placed on a waiting list. This does not apply to students who wish to pursue the Distance Learning (Correspondence Course) method of study. The Admissions Committee does not grant full admission to an applicant until a suggested donation along with all required information has been received by the Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute. Prospective students are encouraged to visit the school in downtown Berkeley, California (San Francisco Bay Area) and discuss educational plans with the Institute.
Students study at the Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute from all over the world for many different reasons. Some come to study Ayurveda for use in their professional practice, and others for self-healing. The students who make up the classes also have many different backgrounds. Some are health care professionals, others are just beginning their professional careers, and some students have no health care background at all. To accommodate these differences we offer the first level Clinical Ayurveda Therapist (C.A.T.) Diploma Program. The Clinical Ayurveda Therapist (C.A.T.) program is a general overview of the science of Ayurveda, at a level appropriate to all students. This 225 hours, 15 trimester unit credits program is thorough enough to satisfy the requirements of health professionals seeking to integrate basic Ayurvedic philosophy and practices into their health care practice. And yet the Clinical Ayurveda Therapist (C.A.T.) program is helpful to those interested in immersing themselves in an Ayurvedic atmosphere to assist in adopting a more healthy Ayurvedic lifestyle. For those desiring more advanced and rigorous study we offer three additional levels of Diploma Certification training.
